Baked Lemon Salmon Side December 16, 2025
Slow cooked salmon with citrus uses olive oil as a fail-safe way to have perfect salmon every time. Lemons and oranges plus hot pepper flakes come together for an easy healthy dinner that takes no time to prepare. Great for dinner parties or a weeknight dinner. Check out the original recipe here.
PREP: 5 minutes
COOK: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 900 g fresh salmon
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 lemons, thinly sliced
- 2 oranges, thinly sliced
- 12 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 sprigs fresh oregano
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1½ cups olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 150°C.
- Season the salmon generously on both sides with salt and pepper and place in a baking dish.
- Top with very thinly sliced lemons and oranges (a mandolin works well). Arrange the fresh herbs over and around the salmon.
- Pour over enough olive oil so the salmon is sitting in a shallow pool — the amount will depend on the size of the fillet and your baking dish. Sprinkle the red pepper flakes over the salmon and into the olive oil around it.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillet, until the salmon is just turning opaque around the edges.
